We are currently working to develop and organize a Net Control Team that will serve the community by organizing, hosting and maintaining weekly nets on as many of our GMRS repeaters as possible. Currently we have nets running on The Woodlands 700, Carlos 725, and Richmond 625 repeaters. And Adrian, WSBR718 just announced that he will be starting a net on the Memorial Park Repeater as of 1/27/2026! We applaud Adrian for stepping up and filling that very important role, but he's going to need help. It's best to have multiple net controllers for each repeater so that the net will run every week even when 1 operator is unavailable for whatever reason. So, I strongly encourage each of you to consider volunteering for a Net Control position on whatever repeaters you can clearly communicate through. Once you join this team, you will receive lots of support from the other team members in the way of helpful documentation, 1 on 1 advise and encouragement, web-based tools and more. You will also have an opportunity to influence the community in a big way by choosing the Net Topic, Format, Style and all. When you run a net, you do it your way and have fun with it. If you are having fun with it, others will enjoy it more and many will want to participate. These nets do a lot to keep the repeaters alive and healthy, and it takes a number of passionate individuals to keep the nets alive. So, please join us by volunteering to assist in Net Operations in some way today. A net is hosted weekly on the Woodlands 700 GMRS Repeater on Sundays at 6 PM with topics that vary from fun trivia to informative tech Q&A's and the whole family is always welcome! We have over 80 call signs on our roster from many different locations and have been running this net for over 5 years now.
Our fellow operator and Taco Connoisseur Adrian, WSBR718 has started a weekly net on the Memorial Park GMRS Repeater at 6 PM each Tuesday that is sure to be a blast! And, who knows what kinds of hilarious and delicious topics that Adrian will throw at us, but please try to check in when you can to support his efforts.
The Grimes County Amateur Radio Group is pleased to sponsor the Grimes County GMRS Net, which is held each Thursday at 7:30 PM CST. To participate, join WRHV671 Carlos 725 Repeater, using its corresponding frequency of 462.7250 MHz. This frequency includes an offset of +5 and a PL tone of 141.3. We then will use simplex on Channel 18 (462.6250) with the DCS 023N code.
Consider starting a net on a Repeater Near You. Nets are a great way to keep the repeaters alive and the community healthy, informed & prepared. It would be great to have a net on every Greater Houston GMRS Repeater. We have opportunities on the Montgomery, Channelview, Dickenson, Lufkin Repeater and more!
